For photographers

Prints and editions, on one page

Sell prints in numbered editions and originals from a shop that is yours, and find the second shooter, the stylist and the model without three weeks of messages.

The print, sold properly

A numbered print is a different thing from a file

The print buyer wants a framed thing for a wall and will pay for paper, numbering and a signature. A shop that treats it as stock of forty identical objects sells it short.

So an edition here is an edition: a stated size, a number, a count that goes down in public and closes itself on the last one. Licensing on Phyrne covers records and films today; for pictures, the picture editor still writes to you.

The club

The crew and the work that comes from it

  1. A second shooter for the weekend

A call that names the date, the city and the rate. Answered by members, and the one you accept is a conversation away.
  2. A stylist, a model, a retoucher

Half of them are members, and the other half know one. This is what introductions are for.
  3. Documentation work, constantly

Every maker in the club needs their work photographed properly. Some pay; some will swap something you would rather have than money.
  4. A show, in a room, with the prints on a wall

Members host them. Prints sell at them. The two facts are related.
I photographed a ceramicist's studio for a set of six tumblers, and the pictures became the first edition I sold out. It was the best-paid job I did that month and no money changed hands on the first half.

Questions about photographers

Can I license my photographs here?
Not yet. Licensing on Phyrne is for records and films, bought from a release page. A picture editor who wants a still writes to you, and the print sells from your shop.
How do model and property releases work?
They are yours to hold, and it is worth being honest about them in your listing rather than optimistic.
Do you print for me?
No. You print, you sign, you post, on your stated terms. We take the payment and pay you.
What about client galleries and delivery?
Deliver a commission as a digital listing — an expiring link, with the payment already settled.
