The application is a questionnaire, not a sign-up. It takes about twenty minutes, a person reads it, and you get an answer by email either way — usually within three to five working days.

Who you are, and where
A first name, a date of birth and a city — where you make the work, and where you would go to a gathering. -
What you make, and what you bring
Your craft and your work. Link to it. This is the part that decides most applications, and one good link beats three paragraphs of description. -
What you came for
Selling, patronage, releases, collaborators, swaps, meeting people in your field, mentorship, gatherings, dating. Pick as many as are true — it decides what we set up for you when you are approved. -
The pledge
You read and sign the code of conduct. It is one page, it is the same page for everybody, and it is enforced with consequences. -
A reference, and why you want in
Somebody who knows your work, and a few sentences in your own words. Both are read by a person. Neither can be done by a form-filler, which is rather the point.
Good to know
- One link to the work beats three paragraphs about the work. If the link only shows half of what you do, add a second.
- You can leave and come back. Nothing is lost, and no password is asked for until you are approved.
After you submit
What happens next, and what a decline means
A person reads it, usually within three to five working days, and you are told by email either way. Approved, you set a password from the link in the acceptance email, and — if you said you would sell — a storefront is waiting, with payouts to set up with Stripe before anything in it can be sold.
Declined is almost always about thinness rather than merit. No work shown, three words about what you make, a blank reference. The application stays with us: reply to the letter that declined it when there is more to read, and a person reads it again. A decline can still become a yes.
